eHit has one of the smaller sized inventories among the top online DVD rental services. In order to stay competitive, they offer not only DVDs in English, but also in Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. The site offers thousands of movies in 12 different genres, including a selection of adult films.
Membership Features
A membership with eHit covers the cost of shipping both to and from your home. There's a limited selection of pre-viewed DVDs for sale. If you don't watch enough movies in a given month to justify a plan, you can use their points system (that don't expire) to order movies on your own time.
Movie Arrival Time
Based on your location, movies generally take 2 to 4 days to arrive since eHit is based in Sunnyvale, CA and has only one location. There is also an advance return function to help avoid waiting long for shipping. Four days after movies are shipped to you, an "advance return" button will appear on your online account. When you drop your DVDs back into the mail to be shipped back to the eHit facility, all you have to do is click the button. This will notify eHit that their DVDs are on their way back; as a result, they'll ship your next set of DVDs to you.
Movie Information
Each movie has a short synopsis, list of starring actors, director, average rating, as well as subtitle and language information. Customer reviews are shown at the bottom, if available.
Search Capabilities
Two of the simplest ways that you can search the site are by language (Chinese, English, Korean, or Japanese) and genre. You can also search by using the title or actor's name as well as perusing new releases, top 100 movies, and newly added selections. The search functions are slightly limited as you cannot, for example, search by director.

Despite a smaller selection of movies available, eHit is especially valuable to those interested in Asian films. Furthermore, for those interested, there is a selection of adult films. There are two types of plans, an unlimited rental plan and a points plan. If you opt for the latter, points are purchased and then used to rent DVDs at your own pace. They never expire and you don't need a monthly plan. On the points plan, movies are yours to watch for 10 days while you get 20 days to watch a TV show. Movies and each disc in a TV series usually cost about 2-3 points. Before you commit, you can try out the service with a 10-day free trial.
